Ramblings of one who has nothing better to do...

Hi...

Since nothing of significance had happened since my last entry, I thought that this would be a good time to look around at whatever greenery is left in our "garden"...now more of a porch than a garden...

So, do join me for a short tour of our little "garden"...

When we renovated the front portion of our house in 2004, we had decided to resurface the floor of the front porch. Although many areas of the garden we had then could be done away with, we had very deep sentimental feelings for the old guava (Jambu Batu) tree. It is actually as old as our house!

It still is...cos we kept the area where it was while the rest of the porch was tiled up.

Out of fear that the old tree might die on us, leaving us without our favourite guava fruits, a recently marcotted branch of it was planted next to an old dead branch of the parent tree.
That was on June 2. Today I could see new buds sprouting...hopefully it will continue in its parent's tradition of providing nice & tasty juicy guava fruits for us...soon.

Well, that square is the only "open" soil area in our compound. See?
And a no. of plants, mainly orchids, have shared the plot.

Below is pic of one orchid plant that flowered for the first time. In January 2007. A rare sight for this particular plant.

However, it's a different story here.

The orchid plants below started as one solitary plant in a pot. And, believe it or not, there are now THREE big ones...cultivated from that one that we brought back from Sungei Petani years ago. However, not a clue as to what species they are though...

This pic (taken only today) show all the orchid plants flowering profusely...at least 2 stalks of flowers each! And they have been doing so almost continuously. My other half says maybe it's becoz of the special "food" I've been feeding them...haha...

The other "wonderful" orchid we are so happy about is one my other half bought in Taiping. 25 Dec 2005 to be exact. Only RM15. Supposedly to be the "Sufon Beauty" species. This plant has been also flowering once every few months. ..ever since the day it was brought home.

Here it is, flowering again :
Above: Pic of Sufon Beauty taken today.

Some time back, a Thai cactus plant was added to the scene. It has grown well and has had many offsprings! Pic shows the "parent"...
Besides these, a few pots of bamboo plants are placed here and there so as not to have a barren porch area. A little bit of green here & there...

Well, thanks for taking the tour....if you can call it one...hehe...Bye!
